Stress and Myositis

We know we cannot avoid stress; it is simply a part of everyday living. Whether it is stress over our finances, a relationship, work or even over our own illness or one affecting someone we love. Stress can take a toll on our body, even more so with those of us that have Myositis or another Auto-Immune disease. So what does stress do to our health?

But You Don’t Look Sick: Invisible Disabilities

There is an unfortunate stigma on many diseases that are painful, debilitating and affect us internally to the point of no longer being able to work or participate in what was once a “normal” and active life yet may not show outward signs of illness. These are referred to as Invisible Disabilities. There are many such diseases: Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Mixed Autoimmune disease and Myositis to name just a few. Of course when these diseases progress, the outward signs may finally show but may also mean it could be too late. Many of us tend to look healthy at first but in no way does that mean we are not sick. “But you don’t look sick” can be a setback for many of us when trying to get a diagnosis.
